Southwaite Green Mill is situated adjacent to the River Eamont in the village of Eamont Bridge approx 1 mile from the attractive town of Penrith. Penrith's central feature is the Monument and Clock Tower was built in 1861.
The town has a mix of traditional shops and sophisticated arcades and local craft shops where such items as the famous Penrith Toffee and Fudge, Cumberland Sausage can be found.
The town has its own Tourist Information Centre, Library, Bus Station & Railway Station both with good links countrywide. On the outskirts of town is Penrith Hospital with a minor accident dept and The Health Centre where most doctor's practices can be found.
Penrith also has a New Leisure Centre and Swimming Baths and on the outskirts of town a good Golf Course.
Leading off Penrith's main streets visitors should note many of the old yard entrances with interesting inscriptions on the lintels. It also has many buildings of architectural and historic interest. There is the site of the demolished Moot Hall, once the home of William Cookson the grandfather of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. William and Dorothy attended school in Penrith the building remains facing onto St Andrews Churchyard and next to the Library
